Riders Cleanup On and Off the Track
Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing KBB Cleanup & Race Review - Sept 11, 2011

After weeks of delayed racing over the summer season the motorcycle racing at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids, Bermuda was back in full swing. The seventh round of the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series saw competition and championship battles heat up as the season winds down to a close. Team Tuned riders took to the track preparing for battle in one of the four remaining rounds of the season.

KBB Cleanup at Clearwater
Kewuan Gilbert, Shae Darrell & Jordan Fletcher all took part in a KBB Cleanup organized by Team Tuned on Saturday, September 10, 2011 prior to training for the race event on Sunday. Several bags of trash were collected along the paths of Coopers Island at the Clearwatch Beach Park in Southside, St. Davids.

BMRC Round 7 at Bermuda Motor Sports Park - Overview
Team Tuned headed into the seventh round of the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series with high ambitions of continuing on a positive performance streak that was seen in the first half of the season. Bruce Degrilla Jr. was off to the Isle of Man to represent Bermuda in Track & Field and was replaced for the weekend by Keanu Wilson on board Bruce's bike in the 125 classification.

Shae Darrell returned to join his teammates after missing the sixth round as he was off island for a school event. The time away did not slow Shae down one bit as he was looking to make up lost ground in the GP80 championship. In race one Shae started from the back of the GP80 grid but was able to get the holeshot into turn one. A battle quickly followed between Shae, Kenneth Desilva and championship rival Jazari Caisey. Lap after lap these riders battled providing "edge-of-seat" entertainment for the on-looking spectators.

Kenneth who races in the scooter classification came out on top in all 3 race events over the two GP80 riders. Shae took the first win of the GP80 classification in heat one. Heat 2 and 3 turned out to be picture perfect examples of Shae's determination to rekindle his championship challenge against current leader Jazari Caisey. Shae finished the day with two second place finishes in the final two races of the day and cut the gap down to 10 points within second place.

Keanu Wilson filled in for Bruce Degrilla Jr. in the GP125 classification. Keanu, the 2010 Superbike Champion, trained with the team over the past few weeks in preparation for his replacement ride. In race one Keanu lined up on the grid with rivals Jordan Fletcher & Wytiko Showers. When the green flag dropped Keanu quickly made his was into turn one being challenged by championship contender Jordan Fletcher. After a minor crash by Wytiko in the early laps Keanu was able to put distance between himself and Jordan and take a dominant win in race one.

In race two and three Keanu put on similar displays of dominance as he grew more comfortable with the GP machine. Leading from pole position in the final two races Keanu cut down the points loss that Bruce gave away to his rival Jordan whilst overseas. Bruce now sits second place overall in the GP125 Championship 25 points behind Jordan with three rounds remaining.

International Competition
Team Tuned Riders Bruce Degrilla Jr, Shae Darrell and Kewuan Gilbert will all be travelling to the Virginia International Raceway to compete in the USGPRU / CCS race event scheduled for September 24th and 25th. They will be accompanied by Jordan Fletcher and will be competing withing the 125/250 and 600cc Supersport Classifications over the weekend. Updates will be provided during the event via the team Facebook page under "Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing".

Hurricane Weather Affects Race Events
Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing - Summer Race Reviews

Racing action at the Bermuda Motor Sports Park has been intermittent due to weather conditions over the past month. Race events have been rescheduled and postponed several times over the past two months due to the very active hurricane season.

BMRC Round 5 at Bermuda Motor Sports Park - Overview
Team Tuned headed into the fifth round of the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series in full force with all 3 riders back on track. Bruce Degrilla Jr. missed the fourth round as he represented Bermuda overseas in a track and field competition.

Shae Darrell lined up in the GP80 class looking to continue his championship challenge against rival Jazari Caisey. Shae and Jazari have been competing head to head all season for the championship lead. Unfortunately Shae was suffering rear grip issues throughout the event and was unable to match Jazari's
pace throughout the weekend. Following a few low speed crashes Shae was able to remount and take home three podium finishes throughout the day.

Kewuan Gilbert extended his championship lead by a further 75 points as his championship rivals were not in attendance during this event. Kewuan's classification was merged with the GP125 class which gave him the opportunity to compete against (and within) his team mate Bruce Degrilla Jr. and other top 125 riders.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. had his work cut out for him as he lost a substantial amount of points to his championship rival Jordan Fletcher after missing Round 4. This gave Bruce the determination to not only win but to blitz the field from lap
one in each of his three heats. Bruce took a dominant victory in all races and regained his championship lead over Jordan who could only manage a second and two third place finishes on the day.

BMRC Round 6 at Bermuda Motor Sports Park - Overview
The sixth round of the championship was held on August 21, 2011 after the event scheduled on August 7th was postponed due to the weather conditions on the day. The team was two riders short this weekend as Shae Darrell was overseas and Kewuan Gilbert out of action with a wrist injury.

Action heated up in the 125 class this weekend with Bruce Degrilla Jr. heading into the event with only 6 points in front of championship rival Jordan Fletcher. Wytiko Showers has been providing an upset to Jordan's challenge against Bruce and Wytiko and Jordan have been battling head to head for second
position recently. Bruce once against stamped his authority on the class blitzing the field in each race once the green flagged dropped.

Bruce was determined to put a further points gap between himself and Jordan as he will be missing one more race event in September as he competes in another track and field event. At the end of the event Bruce took a clean sweep of victories in the 125 class and has extended his lead to over 20 points. With
4 rounds remaining it is sure to be an exciting finish to the season.

Mixed Conditions & Mixed Results for Team Tuned
Team Tuned Race Review - BMRC Race Event: July 3, 2011

The fourth race event of the year was held on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

BMRC Round 4 at Bermuda Motorsports Park - Overview
Team Tuned headed into the fourth round of the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series one rider short as Bruce Degrilla Jr represents Bermuda in France for a Track & Field competition. Cyril Whitter III, Team Tuned coach, stepped in for Bruce to represent the team in the GP125 class in his absence. With weather forecasts predicting rain it was bound to be an exciting day at the Bermuda Motorsports Park for the fourth round of the championship series!

Shae Darrell lined up on the GP80 classification looking to defend his championship lead over Jazari Caisey. Race one, two and three were all action packed as Shae, Jazari and scooter class rider Carlos Cardos engaged in a 3-way battle for first position over each of the 10 lap sprints. In race one Shae led for majority of the race only to lose first position in the penaultimate corner on the final lap. Race 2 and 3 ended in similar fashion with Shae taking home 3 second place finishes behind Jazari. Shae maintains the championship lead in the GP80 class but with a smaller margin to second place heading into round 5.

Cyril Whitter III, filling in for Bruce Degrilla Jr., competed in the GP125 classification for the first time in several years. Cyril lined up at the back of the grid in race one but quickly made his way to the front once the green flag dropped to start the race. Race one and two were similar displays of dominance as Cyril got to the front of each of the races and extended a comfortable lead with chasing riders Jordan Fletcher and Wytiko Showers engaging in heated battles for second position. Cyril took the checkered flag in first position by a comfortable margin in race one and two. However the final race of the day became more heated as Jordan engaged in a heated head to head battle with Cyril lap after lap challenging for the final win of the day. A close bar-to-bar battle ensued between the 2 riders with Cyril the eventual winner taking a clean sweep of wins for the day.

Kewaun Gilbert continues his dominance of the Formula classification although not without his technical difficulties. The classification was merged with the GP125 class enabling Kewaun to engage in battles with several of the 125 riders providing a much needed challenge for the day. Race 1 and 3 saw Kewaun take unchallenged wins in the formula classification. Unfortunately in race 2 Kewaun suffered brake fade forcing him to retired from the race. Kewaun also competed in the first race of the Supermoto race and engaged in a heated battle with championship leader Keanu Wilson. Lap after lap the two riders battled with Keanu the eventual winner and Kewaun taking a 2nd place finish in the only Supermoto race in which he competed.

Riders Battle Through Adversity to take 8 Wins
Team Tuned Race Review - BMRC Father Race Day: June 19, 2011

The third race event of the year was held on Father's Day: Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

BMRC Round 3 at Bermuda Motorsports Park - Overview
Team Tuned headed into the third round of the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series with aspirations of both regaining and defending the championship leads across all 4 classifications in which the riders compete within.

Shae Darrell rejoined the team in round 3 after his absence from the second round of the season. Shae had an uphill battle on his hands has he relinquished his championship lead to Jazari Caisey after missing all 3 race heats in the previous round. However the challenge in the GP80 class this weekend would come from Jazari's team mate Koshun Durrant he filled in for Jazari who was off island. In race one Shae set his sights on victory early in the race as a battle ensued between himself and Koshun. Battling lap after lap Shae took victory in race one but had to settle for second place in race 2. Race three Shae experienced a mechanical problem which hindered his chances at competing for the win but managed to finish in second place, taking 3 podium finishes for the day and regaining the championship lead in the GP80 classification.

Bruce Degrilla Jr represented the team in the GP125 classification looking to defend his lead going into round 3. The classification was full this weekend with the return of former champion Andrew Decosta alongside other new competitors to the class. In race one Bruce's rear wheel broke on the warm up lap forcing him to enter the pits and swap bikes. Bruce used Shae's 80cc classification bike to compete in the 125 class and end the race in 4th place. Bruce's bike was repaired during the race and he was able to enter race two and three on his on race machine. In race two and three Andrew Decosta battled hard to give Bruce a challenge for victory but Bruce managed to put distance between him and the chasing pack to take the final two wins of the day and maintain his championship lead in the GP125 classification.

Kewaun Gilbert competed in both the Formula and Supermoto classifications as he looks to contest two championship titles in 2011. Kewaun took a clean sweep of victories in the Formula Classification and the championship lead. The supermoto classification proved to be the challenge of the day for Kewaun as the classification was mixed in with the 125 class. The battle against his own competitors whilst racing head to head with the 125 class riders turned out to be very entertaining for all parties. In race one and two Kewaun dominated in the Supermoto class take a win from each. In race three Kewaun took an eventual 3rd place round off his day with 5 wins and a total 6 podium finishes.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their dedication and support of our program: CellOne, Capital G, Zurich, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, Autobahn Accessories, Independent Management Ltd., Autobahn Cycles, Tuff Dogs, Sub Zero, Squirrel Photography, Galfer USA & Vortex Racing.

7 Wins in Round Two for Team Tuned Riders
Team Tuned Race Review - BMRC Race Event: June 5, 2011

The second race event of the year was held this past Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids. Cloudy overcast skies dampened the track early in the day but not the spirits of the competitors who took to the track in mixed conditions.

BMRC Round 2 at Bermuda Motorsports Park - Overview
Team Tuned riders Bruce Degrilla Jr and Kewaun Gilbert took on additional challenges in the second round as they both competed within two race categories. Bruce filled in for Shae Darrell in the GP80 class as Shae was unable to compete this past weekend. Kewaun opted to compete in both the Formula and Supermoto classifications in his first race of the season having missed the season opener on May 22nd.

Bruce lined up first in the GP80 classification competing against rivals Jazari Caisey and Edward Cook. Race one saw Bruce make his way through the field after a poor start up into a podium position. Attempting to take the lead from Jazari Caisey he lost front grip and crashed out. Reentering the race in last position Bruce made up positions quickly to finish 2nd in his first race of the day. Race two saw Bruce and Jazari battle head to head lap after lap with Bruce taking the checkered flag in first position and his first win in the GP80 classification. Bruce rounded off the day and finished race three in 2nd position making it 3 podium finishes in his first race day in the GP80 classification.

Kewaun lined up in the Formula classification on the back of the grid as it was his first race of the season. Making his intention known swiftly Kewaun lead the class into turn one and started to put distance between himself and second place. Kewaun went on to win Race 1, 2 and 3 in dominant form moving into 2nd position overall in the Formula classification. Racing back to back classes however seemed a bridge to tall as he attempted to challenge for the Supermoto classification title as well. In race one Kewaun had a crash on the warmup lap. Remounting for the start of the race Kewaun took 2nd place in race one but was unable to complete race two due to a mechanical failure. Kewaun won 3 races with a total of 4 podium finishes in his first race of the season.

Bruce Degrilla rounded off the day with a clean sweep of wins in the GP125 class. Bruce continues to dominate the classification in his quest to retain his 2010 championship crown.

Clean Sweep for Team Tuned Riders
Team Tuned Race Review - BMRC Season Opener: May 22, 2011

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's Youth Development Program has started its 5th season in the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series. The first race event of the year was held this past Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

2011 Rider Line-Up:
Team Tuned will field 3 riders in the 2011 BMRC National Championship Series. Shae Darrell, 2010 GP70 National Champion, has graduated to the GP80 classification for the 2011 season. Bruce Degrilla Jr., 2010 GP125 National Champion, remains in the GP125 classification to defend his title during the 2011 season. Kewaun Gilbert, 2010 Formula Runner Up, will compete within the Supermoto and Formula Classifications in 2011.

BMRC Round 1 at Bermuda Motorsports Park - Overview
Bermuda's beautiful summer weather provided the perfect backdrop for the season opener as Team Tuned's riders prepared to start their championship challenge within the GP80, GP125, Supermoto & Formula classifications. Unfortunately Kewaun Gilbert was unable to compete in the season opener due to illness but is expected to be ready to compete in the next event on June 5th, 2011.

Shae Darrell was the first rider to line up and represent the team for the day in the GP80 classification. Being a rookie to the classification Shae was forced to line up further back on the grid at the start of the race. This however did not hinder Shae from looking for the hole shot when the flag dropped to start the race. With 3 race heats scheduled for the day Shae made his intentions known to the rest of the field that he would be a title contender as he led from start to finish to take the checkered flag in first place! Race 2 and 3 ended in similiar fashion although competitors Zaine Philpott, Jazari Caisey & Edward Cook upped their pace to challenge Shae for the lead. Fighting brilliantly every lap to maintain his lead Shae took 3 wins and the GP80 championship lead after the first round of the season!

Bruce Degrilla Jr represented the team in the GP125 Classification and was set to defend his 2010 championship title on board his all new Moriwaki MD250H four stroke GP. The GP125 classification was combined with the Supermoto Classification for the day. Bruce lined up on pole position for race one and led the pack into turn one when the flag dropped for the start of the race. Following in the form of his team mate Bruce dominated race one, two & three from start to finish to take a clean sweep of 3 wins out of 3 races and the GP125 championship lead at the end of the first round of the season.

BMRC Round 13 at Bermuda Motorsports Park - Overview
The final race event of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club was held on October 31, 2010 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids. Bermuda's beautiful weather provided the perfect backdrop for the season finale as Team Tuned's riders prepared to finish their championships in top form.

Shae Darrell lined up first for the team within the GP80 Classification. Shae secured the GP70 Classification with 2 rounds remaining and was awarded for his achievement by being upgraded to an 80cc machine for the remaining to races in preparation for his 2011 campaign. In race one Shae led off the line into turn one followed closely by championship leader Wytiko Showers. The two distanced themselves from the remainder of the field and battled lap after lap for the lead. Shae suffered a mechanical fault and slipped backward through the field to finish in 4th place.

Although the mechanical fault was a slight set back Shae remained confident heading into the final 2 races of the season. In race 2 and 3 Shae led the pack into turn one and led every lap from start to finish to take his first 2 wins of the GP80 Classification in only his second race event in the class! This result has set a fierce message to the 2011 GP80 classification of Shae's intentions for his debut season in the class next season.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. and Cody Sousa-Saints represented the program in the GP125 Classification. Bruce entered the final race event with a slight point advantage over rival Andrew Decosta. Cody trailed Andrew in 3rd position overall in his rookie season within the Classification. All three riders looked set for a 3 way head to head battle in the final round of the championship! In race one Bruce got off the line and into the turn one first followed closely by his team mate Cody and rival Andrew. Although Bruce was able to put distance between himself the pack early on in the race Cody and Andrew engaged in an "edge of the seat" battle for second position. Lap after lap these two battled until Cody made a strong pass into the final section of the track and put distance between himself and Andrew. Bruce and Cody finished 1st and 2nd in race 1 and 2 of the event.

Race 3 so a change of events as Cody and Bruce engaged in a heated head to head battle. Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's riders Bruce Degrilla Jr and Cody Sousa-Saints were accompanied by Andrew Decosta as they travelled to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in the final round of the USGPRU National Championship over October 8-10, 2010. It has been a very busy few weeks for these racers as they competed in the local BMRC Championship on October 3rd prior to leaving for the international race as well as competing this past Sunday, October 17, 2010 upon their return to island!

USGPRU Finals at Miller Motorsports Park - Overview
Bruce, Cody and Andrew competed within 3 race categories in the USGPRU event during October 9th and 10th. The riders rode Honda Moriwaki 250cc four-stroke race machines in all their races for the events competing against several specifications of race bikes. The final event attracted quite a large field within a few categories which proved to be very exciting for the riders.

Miller Motorsports Park is one of the largest race facilities in the United States with a race course measuring almost 4.6miles in total distance. The Bermudian young men competed in 6 lap sprint races which would total over 35 miles in distance including their warm-up and cool-down laps; longer than the total length of Bermuda!

Both riders were accompanied by their team mates Shae Darrell and Kewuan Gilbert competing in the 12th round of the BMRC Championship.

Climate changes on island gave all riders slight issues with the cooler air and ground temperature reducing the grip level compared to the summer months. Shae Darrel, who has clenched the GP70 Championship with two rounds to spare, competed in his first official race in the GP80 classification in early preparations for his 2011 championship challenge.

As a part of their character development the team contacted the Centre of Philanthropy who organized for Mrs. Jan Fraser to host a seminar for these two young men.

GP70 Classification
Shae Darrell (12) continues to dominate the GP70 classification week after week. Shae started from pole position in both race heats of the day leading from start to finish. Shae has shown extreme determination in his bid to win the GP70 Championship in 2010 after finishing a near 2nd Place in 2009. Shae extended his lead by another 10 points at the top of the championship 131 points clear of second place rider Haley Place. The excitement of the day for Shae was his battles in race one and two with 2 riders in the GP80 classification as both classes were combined.

GP125 Classification
Cody Sousa-Saints (16) and Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14) represented Team Tuned in the GP125 Classification in the ninth round of the BMRC National Championship Series. Cody and Bruce recently returned from their first international race competing in the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix during August 27-29, 2010. Read about their results here.

In race one of the day it was Andrew Decosta, Bruce and Cody three wide into turn one. The battle quickly intensified as all three riders battled for the lead during the first half of the race. As Bruce made a pass on Andrew for the lead, Cody and Andrew continued to battle head to head for second position. Within a few laps Cody made a final pass which sealed his second place position as he put distance between himself and Andrew in the final stages of the race. Bruce and Cody took first and second places in race one of the day.

Race two saw the same three riders once again battling at the front of the field. Cody took hole shot and led the race for the first few laps. As Bruce made a pass for the lead Cody lost a bit of ground and became engulfed in another battle for second place with Andrew. Unfortunately Cody suffered from mechanical issues with his gear selector in race two making it difficult to repeat his performance from race one. Bruce went on two win race two followed by Andrew in second place and Cody in third. Bruce leads the GP125 Championship by 26 points over Andrew Decosta with Cody Sousa-Saints trailing Andrew Decosta by 34 points.

Darrell & Degrilla Take Double Wins in Round 8
Team Tuned Race Review - August 22, 2010 Race Event

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's riders participated in the eighth round of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series on August 22, 2010. The eight event of the championship followed a cancellation of the seventh round due to Tropical Storm Colin two weeks prior. With clear skies and tropical weather the day was due to be full of excitement as the riders returned to racing.

GP70 Classification
Shae Darrell (12) stamped his seal of dominance on the GP70 Classification as he continued his winning streak in this past weekend's event. In both race 1 and 2 Shae started from pole position and led from start to finish. Shae has shown extreme determination in his bid to win the GP70 Championship in 2010 after finishing a near 2nd Place in 2009. With more than 100 points separating Shae from his nearest rival he looks sure to win his first GP70 Championship.

GP125 Classification
Cody Sousa-Saints (16) and Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14) represented Team Tuned in the GP125 Classification in the eighth round of the BMRC National Championship Series. Cody entered the eighth round following back to back wins in round six held on July 25, 2010. Bruce returned from a practice injury to compete in his first round since the fifth round on July 11, 2010.

In race one Bruce and Cody had their hands full battling head to head with 2008 Champion Andrew Decosta. As Bruce made a move for the lead Cody and Andrew continued a heated battle close behind allowing Bruce to open up a gap to his teammate and rival. After a few laps Cody managed a clean pass on Andrew which sealed his position in second place for the remainder of the race. Bruce and Cody took first and second in race one of the event.

In race two Andrew, Bruce and Cody once again battled head to head from the first corner. Bruce and Cody put distance between themselves and Andrew as they battled for first position. An unfortunate mistake saw Cody lose the front as he attempted to overtake Bruce for the lead during the event. Unable to remount Cody was sidelined for the remainder of the race. Bruce went on to win race two followed by Andrew in second place.

Bruce has regained the championship lead in the GP125 Championship whilst Cody sits in 3rd position closely behind Andrew Decosta.

Superbike Classification
Cyril Whitter III (25) did not race in the Superbike category this weekend as his management commitments did not allow. The team was granted the ability to allow Cody Sousa-Saints to race in Cyril's place in both heats of the event.

In his rookie appearance Cody secured a second and third place finish in the Superbike Classification. Competing in 2 classifications during the same event is no easy feat and Cody's accomplishment of securing 2 podium finishes in his first Superbike Race was a milestone in his race career.

Shae Darrell (11) returned to action in round 5 after crashing out of the final race event during the June 27th event held two weeks prior. Shae's crash did not hinder his blistering pace as he continued to impress all who watched has he won back to back races to take the double-win in his classification. In race one and two Shae took the hole shot in the GP70 classification and extended his lead lap after lap on his rivals Hailey Place and Taznae Fubler. Involved in a starting incident in race two with an older rider in the GP80 class did not phase Shae as he restarted race two in the same fashion as his previous race of the day. Shae now leads the GP70 Classification with a margin of 93 points seperating him and second place rider Hailey Place.

GP125 Classification
Bruce Degrilla Jr. entered round five as both the defending GP125 Champion and the current classification leader. Cody Sousa-Saints (16) started the fifth race event of the season lined up beside his team mate Bruce aiming to make up lost championship points from incompleted races in previous events during the season. Race one saw Andrew Decosta take hole shot in the classification ahead of team mates Bruce and Cody. Bruce quickly made his way to the front of the pack followed by Andrew and Cody respectively. This order remained the same across the finish line for both race one and two. Bruce extended his leaded over Andrew to 39 points leading into round 6 of the championship. Cody currently maintains third position overall in the GP125 Championship in his rookie campaign within the classification.

Superbike Classification
Cyril Whitter III (25) represented the team within the 600 Superbike classification. Cyril recieved intense competition in race one and two from Keanu Wilson. Race one saw Cyril lead into turn one ahead of Keanu. With half race distance gone Keanu made a late-breaking pass on Cyril into turn one to take the lead and the win. Race two ended in similar fashion with Keanu taking victory over Cyril who finished 2nd place in both races of the event. Cyril continues to lead the Superbike Classification with a depleated championship lead over Keanu heading into the 6th round of the championship.

Rollercoaster Ride for Team Tuned in Round 4!!
Team Tuned Race Review - June 27, 2010 Race Event

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's participated in the fourth round of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series on June 27, 2010. The weekend was a racing rollercoaster for the team as the riders experienced various ups and downs in their championship campaigns.

GP70 Classification
Shae Darrell (11) entered the fourth event of the season with a major lead in the championship of rival Hailey Place. Race one saw Shae in his usual dominate form leading the pack from turn one whilst never conceding the lead throughout the race. Shae once again set his sights on a battle with the riders from the GP80 classification. He quickly locked into a heated battle with Jazari Caisey for the duration of the race. At the end of the first heat of the day Shae took his first win and extended his championship lead. Unfortunately Shae's day took a major turn as he crashed out on the first lap of race two and was unable to re-enter for the restart. Shae continues to lead the GP70 classification leading into round 5 of the championship.

GP125 Classification
Cody Sousa-Saints (16) started the fourth race event of the season lined up beside his team mate Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14). Cody and Bruce have battled race after race with little ground being conceded in the championship challenge between the two. At the start of race one Andrew Decosta managed to get the hole shot followed closely by Cody, Robert Devent and Bruce. Bruce did not waste much time making his way through the field as he quickly passed both Robert and his team mate in the opening two laps. Swiftly after catching up with the race leader, Bruce then made a daring late breaking move up into the inside of Andrew for the lead and took a hard earned race win in the first heat of the day. Cody unfortunately was unable to complete race one as he collided with a barrier during an intense battle with Andrew in the early laps of the race.

In race two Bruce was the sole representative of the team as Cody opted out of competing due to his injury from race one. Once again Bruce started on the front of the grid but conceded the race lead to his rivals. This minor setback did not deter Bruce as he fought his way back into the lead in the opening laps of the race and quickly put distance between himself and his rivals. Taking wins in both race one and two allowed Bruce to take over the championship lead in the GP125 classification leading into round 5 of the championship.

Superbike Classification
Cyril Whitter III (25) represented the team within the 600 Superbike classification. Once again it was Keanu Wilson who stepped up to challenge the current Superbike Championship leader. Cyril started from pole position but conceded the lead into turn one to Bryce Place & Keanu Wilson. With Keanu leading the pack into turn one and quickly putting distance between himself and the other riders Cyril quickly made his way past Bryce to chase after Keanu by lap 2. Cyril made his race winning overtake towards the final moments of the race to take the lead and the win in race one. Race two saw Cyril take the holeshot and lead from start to finish. With two wins under his belt in round 4 of the championship, Cyril extended his championship lead in the Superbike Classification heading into the 5th round of the national championship series.

The next schedule race event will be held on July 11, 2010 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

Edge of Seat Action in Third Round of Championship!
Team Tuned Race Review - June 13, 2010 Race Event

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's championship challenges continue to meet expectations this past Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

The event, branded by the BMRC as "Girls Day Out", featured a female guest rider in the Superbike Classification from California. Queena, representing the M1GP Race Organization, was assisting in the promotion of female motorcycle racers in Bermuda.

GP70 Classification
Shae Darrell (11) lined up on pole position as he once again prepared to defend his championship lead in the third race event of the season. The GP70 classification once again was combined with the GP80 classification. Shae led both race one and two from flag to flag taking the victory within his respective category. The two victories has allowed Shae to extend his championship lead over nearest rival Hailey Place. Shae, however, had his sights set higher throughout both race heats as he aimed to challenge Jazari Caisey in the GP80 classification throughout both heats. In race one Shae and Jazari battled wheel to wheel in a very class fought battle. Jazari managed to beat shae in race 1 whilst Shae returned the gesture in race two.

GP125 Classification
Cody Sousa-Saints (16) started the third race event of the season on pole with the championship lead going into race one of the event. Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14) lined up beside Cody as the green flag dropped to start the race. Bruce led off the line into turn one and began to put distance between himself and the chasing pack. In dominate form Bruce won the race leading every lap from start to finish in race one. Cody had his hands full with 2008 GP125 Champion Andrew Decosta. As Cody and Andrew battled this allowed Bruce to ride away with the win. After very intense battling between the two Cody managed to make a clean pass towards the middle of race one and put distance between himself and Andrew to finish the first race in second position.

Race two in the GP125 classification was just as intense though this time Cody decided that he would turn his fortunes around in a battle for the win. The race quickly became another two-way battle for victory between team mates as Cody and Bruce seperated from the rest of the field. Bruce spent majority of the race stalking Cody waiting for the right time to attack. On the last lap Bruce made a daring move into turn 2 taking the lead from Cody. Cody quickly reacted with an overtaking move two corners later to retake the lead and the win in the second event of the day. Cody continues to lead the GP125 Championship closely followed by Bruce 2 points behind.

Superbike Classification
Cyril Whitter III (25) represented the team within the 600 Superbike classification. This week it was Keanu Wilson who stepped up to challenge the current Superbike Championship leader. Cyril started from pole position but conceded the lead into turn one to Bryce Place. With Keanu close behind Cyril quickly made his way past Bryce to lead the race on lap 1. Keanu follow close behind as the two riders put distance between themselves and the rest of the superbike classification. Although pressured by Keanu in the second half of the race Cyril went on to take victory in the only race heat of the event extending his lead in the Superbike Classification.

Overall the team has achieved 14 Wins, 7 second place finishes and is leading 3 National Championships after the third race event of the BMRC National Championship Series. The next race event is scheduled for June 27, 2010.

Team Tuned's riders and motorcycles will be on display at the Annual Capital G Iron Kids Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 12:00PM until 5:00PM.

Domination Continues for Team Tuned in Round 2!!
Team Tuned Race Review - May 30, 2010 Race Event

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's championship challenges continued in good stride this past Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids.

GP70 Classification
Shae Darrell (11) lined up on pole position as he prepared to defend his championship lead in the second race event hosted by the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club. In race one Shae got a great start off the line and led into turn one. The classification was combined with the GP80 riders whom Shae set his sight on competing against as once again he blitzed the entire field of GP70 riders from start to finish. Shae's first win of the season was repeated in identical form in race 2 as he walked away with the double-win. Even more impressive was the fact that Shae finished 2nd overall in race two of the combined 70 and 80 classifications! Shae continues to lead the GP70 championship after the second event of the season.

GP125 Classification
Cody Sousa-Saints (16) entered the second race event of the season with the championship lead in the GP125 classification. Competition continues to become more and more intense as Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14) looks keen to keep his title defense in fine form. Race one saw Bruce and Andrew Decosta battling head to head at the front of the pack once again. Cody unfortunately suffered from a mechanical failure which saw him sidelined momentarily as his chain fell off his race machine. Although Cody managed to re-enter the race he was several laps behind and completed the first race in 6th spot. Bruce went on to battle Andrew for the lead for the remainder of the race eventually conceding the win to Andrew on the final lap.

Race two in the GP125 classification was just as intense though this time Cody decided that he would turn his fortunes around in a battle for the win. The race quickly became another three-way battle for victory. Andrew, Bruce and Cody all battled head to head for several laps. This time, however, Cody was able to breakaway from both Bruce and Andrew and take the checkered flag in first position followed by Bruce in second. Cody continues to lead the 125 championship after the second round of the season. Bruce trails his teammate in second position in the championship with a mere 2 points seperating the two.

Superbike Classification
Cyril Whitter III (25) represented the team within the 600 Superbike classification. After much preparation for the second race event of the season, Cyril turned the tables on his championship rivals this past weekend. Race one saw Cyril start from pole position on the grid. Cyril took advantage of his start position to lead into turn one closely followed by his competitors on lap one. Quickly the race turned into a two-way battle between Cyril and Paul. Cyril maintained his lead for the duration of race one holding off the challenges of Paul to cross the checkered flag in first position. This win was Cyril's first of the season as a rookie within the superbike classification.

Race two panned out in similar fashion. This time it was 2009 Superbike Champion Shannon Caisey who took his turn challenging Cyril for victory. Cyril and Shannon quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the superbike grid as they battled head to head in race two of the day. Shannon mounted a pass on Cyril off the main straightaway which almost looked like he would take the lead. Cyril quickly challenged Shannon's overtaking move to reassume the lead of the race. Lap after lap Cyril held off Shannon's attempts for the lead until the checkered flag. Cyril took the double-win in the superbike classification as well as the championship lead after round two of the BMRC National Championship Series.

Overall the team has achieved 9 Wins, 5 second place finishes and is leading 3 National Championships after the second race event of the BMRC National Championship Series. The next race event is scheduled for June 13, 2010.

Rocket Start to Team Tuned's Title Challenges
BMRC Race Day Review - May 16, 2010 Race Event

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's championship challenges started this past Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St. Davids. The first race event of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series got off to a great start with a large crowd, cool weather and intense motorcycle racing action.

Shae Darrell (11) led the charge for Team Tuned within the GP70 classification. Shae, who finished 2nd overall in 2009, was determined to take this year's crown from Jazary Caisey who won the classification in 2009. In race one Shae got a great start off the line and led into turn one. The classification was combined with the GP80 riders whom Shae set his sight on competing against as he blitzed the entire field of GP70 riders from start to finish. Shae's first win of the season was repeated in identical form in race 2 as he walked away with the double-win and the championship lead after the first event of the season.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. (14) and Cody Sousa-Saints (16) represented Team Tuned within the GP125 classification. Although both riders were competing under the same racing team there were no friendships on the race track when the green flag dropped at the start of the race! Bruce, the 2009 GP125 Champion, looked to start his championship defense in fine form as he and Andrew Decosta (the 2008 GP125 Champion) battled head to head at the front of the pack. Cody was not too far behind the lead battle in 3rd position as he was competing in his first race within the classification. With an intense battle raging between Bruce and Andrew corner after corner in race one Bruce looked to have the win secured leading into the first corner of the last lap. Unfortunately a risk move by Andrew saw him crash out into Bruce taking them both out of the race for the victory. Cody reaped in his teammates sorrows as he went on to win his first race in the GP125 classification! Bruce remounted and was able to bring the bike home in fourth.

Race two in the GP125 classification was just as intense though this time Cody decided that he would join in the battle for the win making it a three-way battle for victory. Andrew, Bruce and Cody all battled head to head for several laps until Bruce was able to make a pass for the lead and put some distance between him and the pack. Cody followed in his team-mates trails but was unable to match his pace as Bruce went on to win the second race of the day whilst Cody secured 2nd position.

Cyril Whitter III (25) represented Team Tuned within the 600 Superbike classification. Cyril has been coaching the riders within Team Tuned since its creation in 2007 but has now decided to rejoin the racing ranks alongside his other duties within the team. Rejoining in the sports premier class though was no easy feat as Cyril lined up against the 2008 Superbike Champion Paul Decouto amongst other worthy competitors. Race one saw Cyril start from 4th on the grid. Making up a few positions by turns 1 and 2, Cyril was able to position himself in 2nd place behind Paul Decouto on lap one. Pushing hard in his debut race within the classification Cyril attempted to keep Paul within his sights throughout the race but was unable to mount a challenge for the win. Crossing the line in second in his first race was admirable as he completed a similar task in race 2 and end the day 2nd Overall in the Superbike Championship Standings leading into the next race event.

Overall the team achieved 4 Wins, 3 second place finishes and is leading 2 National Championships after the first race event of the BMRC National Championship Series.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their dedication and support of our program: Capital G, Zurich, CellularONE, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, Autobahn Accessories, Flagstone Re, Tuff Dogs and Sub Zero.

As long as Cody keeps his bike on two wheels he will have a guaranteed championship at the end of the final race event.

It was smooth sailing for the team all day including a clean-sweep from the team's newest rider, Shae Darrell. Shae is now competing under the Team Tuned banner within the GP70 classification and is 22 points behind the first place rider Jazari Caisey. Team Leads 2 Championships After Round Five Results!
Bruce Degrilla Jr. & Sousa-Saints lead both the GP80 & GP125 Championships.

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing's riders continued to enjoy great success in the fifth round of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club National Championship Series. On August 30, 2009 Team Tuned secured 5 out of a possible 6 victories between both Bruce Degrilla Jr. (3 Wins) and Cody Sousa-Saints (2 Wins). With these 5 victories including a 2nd place finish by Cody in the GP80 classification Team Tuned has hit its first milestone of 105 podium finishes since it started in March 2007. Thus far in the 2009 BMRC National Championship Series Bruce and Cody have a total of 10 wins and 21 podium finishes as they continue to challenge for their respective championships.

Cody-Sousa Saints continues to show his dominate form in the GP80 classification extending his championship lead over Aaron Persad with 2 Wins and a 2nd place finish in Sunday's event. In race one Cody led from the race from lap one extended a massive lead over Aaron. Unfortunately Cody experienced a minor mechanic issue which forced him to enter the pitts but was able to re-enter the race and finish second in race one. Race two Cody once again led from the front into turn one and set his head down to make up for race one. Whilst Cody pushed a little hard into one of the bends he lost the front, crashed and was able to remount 7 seconds behind Aaron Persad. With 8 Laps remaining Cody pushed lap after lap to not only catch up with Aaron but pass him and take the checkered flag in first position taking his first win of the day. Race three saw a flawless victory for Cody as he led from turn one and never looked back continuously extending both his race lead and his championship lead. Cody now sits at the top of the GP80 Championship 18 points ahead of Aaron Persad with four rounds remaining in the championship race.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. had a flawless hat-trick of victories during the fifth round of the BMRC National Championship Series. Previous championship leader Keanu Wilson set about to defend his lead but his efforts were no match for Bruce on Sunday as he streaked away with a victory in all 3 race heats. In race one Bruce had a bad start off the line leaving him in fourth position into turn one following behind Keanu Wilson, Andrew Decosta and Robert Devent. Within a laps time Bruce made his way across both Robert and Andrew in hot pursuit of the race leader. Lap after lap Bruce challenged Keanu for the lead and was able to make a pass stick at the half way point of the race. Keanu attempted to challenge for the lead but lost grip and slid out of the race remounting to finish fifth. Bruce finished the race a very comfortable margin ahead of second place taking his first win of the day. Race two looked very familiar as Bruce and Keanu once again went head to head for the race lead though Keanu again crashed in pursuit of Bruce. Bruce won race two and race three taking a hat-trick of victories and the championship lead after round five of the BMRC National Championship. Bruce now leads Keanu in the GP125 championship by 5 points.

The next round of the BMRC National Championship Series will be held on September 6, 2009. Team Tuned would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support of our youth development program: Capital G, Zurich, CellularONE, VAOnline.TV, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, Cycle Care & JT Custom Worx.

4 Victories in Round Four of BMRC Championship
Cody Sousa-Saints takes hat-trick of victories on August 9, 2009.

Team Tuned Motorcycle Racing enjoyed great success during thr fourth round of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series. Between the team's two riders competing in two classifications there was a total of 5 podium finishes including 4 victories for Cody Sousa-Saints. Year to date the team has won 5 races and achieved 15 podium finishes on its way to challenging for both the GP80 and GP125 championships in 2009.

Cody Sousa-Saints, who competes in the GP80 classification, continued his excellent form from round 3 with a dominant victory in race one of the day. The Metrakit GP80XL which Cody currently rides was running in excellent form with Cody pushing every inch of the circuit to continue his domination through race two and three allowing him to comfortably take home a hat-trick of victories in round four of the championship. Cody had strong rivalry from a fellow racer Aaron Persad who rides a modified Honda CBR150R motorcycle. The challenge though did not stand for long as Cody increased his lead lap by lap and won each race by a comfortable margin. Cody now leads the GP80 championship heading into round 5 with 5 rounds left in the BMRC Championship.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. continued to face stiff competition in the form of Keanu Wilson and Andrew Decosta. Keanu Wilson continues to provide a strong battle for the championship and is relentless in his efforts to win each race event. Nonetheless Bruce raised the bar on Sunday, August 9th and challenged Keanu in his efforts to win the GP125 championship in 2009. In race one Bruce unfortunately experienced a low-side crash and remounted almost a complete lap down on his rivals. After re-mounting his refreshed Honda RS125 Bruce set his sights on making up as much ground as possible but had to settle for a 5th place finish in race one of the day. In race two the tables turned when Keanu Wilson crashed in the opening laps of the heat leaving the door wide open for Bruce to make up much needed championship points as Keanu was unable to re-mount his Aprilia and retired from the race. Bruce went on to win race 2 of the day leaving a much anticipated battle in race 3.

Race 3 of the GP125 classification saw an intense head to head battle between Bruce and Keanu down to the very last lap. Bruce worked hard to match the raw speed of the Aprilia and with a little extra tuning he was able to give Keanu a hard battle for victory. Although the result ended with Bruce in 2nd place the team is 1 major step forward in the challenge for the GP125 championship title. Bruce now stands 2nd overall in the GP125 classification 26 points behind Keanu Wilson heading in to round 5 on August 23, 2009.

Team Tuned would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support of our youth development program: Capital G, Zurich, CellularONE, VAOnline.TV, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, Cycle Care & JT Custom Worx.

It was the first race event to be held after the facility had been closed for over a month leaving the fans desiring for motorcycle racing action. With three race heats scheduled over the period of the event the spectators where supplied with ample racing action to satisfy their thirst!

Cody Sousa-Saints competed within the GP80 classification on board a Metrakit XL80 tuned by the team's mechanics in preparation for Cody's title challenge in 2009. The bike was recently fitted with a new specification motor from Metrakit Australia which Cody first tested on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Although racing had been postponed for several weeks the team spent several days refining the suspension and motor on Cody's bike for his first time back on track since May 31, 2009. The first heat of the GP80 classification saw Cody grid up from the rear of the starting grid. Although starting from the rear of the pack Cody quickly fought his way up to second position within half of the race distance seeking to chase after the race leader, John Cook. With the bike's motor running smoothly Cody was set to attempt a race lead challenge when his gear selector came loose. Unlucky for Cody this cost him a delay in his first career victory but he still managed to finish the race on the podium with a 3rd Place finish.

The second race of the day was the start of Cody's real championship challenge. Cody, starting from the front row of the grid, was able to challenge John Cook from the first corner of the second race. Within a short period of laps Cody took the lead from John and set about putting distance between John and himself to win the first race of his career by a comfortable margin! Race three saw Cody battle head to head with John from start to finish with John taking the final win of the day. Cody now stands third overall in the GP80 Championship 2 points behind second place and the first win of his racing career under his belt.

Whilst the temperature felt very hot at the motorsports park the competition within the GP125 classification was even hotter. Bruce Degrilla Jr. faced stiff competition in the form of Keanu Wilson and Andrew Decosta. Keanu recently signed to race for the Pizza House Racing Team and now rides on board a world class Aprilia RSW125. Andrew Decosta is the 2008 GP125 Champion racing a Honda RS125 and looking to retain his crown in his second season within the GP125 classification. These two riders, alongside Bruce, were all looking to be on the top of the podium during the third round of the BMRC National Championship Series.

In race 1 Bruce, Keanu and Andrew battled head to head during a 14 lap stint. Keanu and Bruce started to pull away from the 2008 GP125 champion as they went on to challenge each other for the first win of the day. Although Bruce rode a near perfect race, an early battle with Andrew left a big margin between Keanu and Bruce allowing Keanu to break away to win race one. During race two and three of the day Keanu continued to dominate the 125 class. Although the team worked on improving the acceleration of Bruce's Honda RS125 to compete against Keanu's Aprilia, early battles within the opening laps of the races hindered Bruce from mounting a challenge for race wins.

Bruce ended the day with three brilliant second place finishes moving him into 2nd overall in the GP125 championship heading into the next round of the BMRC National Championship Series. The next round is schedule for August 9, 2009 at 1:00p.m. The team will be training on August 5th, 6th and 7th at the motorsports park working on their race bike setups as well as race craft in preparation for the race event on August 9th.

Team Tuned would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support of our youth development program: Capital G, Zurich, CellularONE, VAOnline.TV, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, Cycle Care & JT Custom Worx.

The team has taken part in various events during its off-track hoursin 2009.

Over the past several months Team Tuned's Manager, Riders, Parents and Public Relations Representative have been actively participating in events seeking to enhance the team's relationship with its donors. On July 9, 2009 members of Team Tuned attended the Capital-G Second Annual Giving Back Reception hosted at the Tuckers Point Hotel & Spa. The reception was organized by Capital G as a means of showing it's appreciation of the entities within Bermuda who are dedicating their time and resources to helping others. The reception provided the team with a chance to meet representatives from Capital-G and other charitable organizations operating in Bermuda. We were very fortunate to take part in such a wonderful event and would like to thank the Capital-G family for the experience.

On June 12, 2009 team riders travelled to Southside, St. Davids to showcase their motorcycles at the Annual Capital G Iron Kids Triathalon. The event started at with entertainment at 12:00p.m and the race event at 3:00p.m. Bruce Degrilla Jr. and Cody Sousa-Saints were in attendance with their team manager, Cyril Whitter III, and Bruce's Father.

The triathalon was a great success with a full turn out of competitors. Although the skies were overcast with threats of rain the weather held out long enough to provide a competitive and fun filled event for all who participated.

Thank you to Capital-G for inviting us to take part in the experience!

Two Rounds Cancelled Due to Facility Restrictions
The past two rounds of the race series were cancelled by the BMRC.

The Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club were forced to cancel the June 14th and the June 28th rounds of the National Championship Series due to the Bermuda Motorsports Park being closed until further notice by the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation. The facility has been closed due to a safety concern in reference to the non-completion of two new spectator stands within the facility. The committee of the BMRC is due to meet with the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation to discuss a date at which the stands will be completed and the facility re-opened.

We apologize to our sponsors, supporters and fans for the delay in race action. Team Tuned has taken this time to completely overhaul our race equipment in preparation for the next round of the BMRC National Championship Series. The club's executive committee will discuss options to make up the lost rounds once the facility is opened and the club gains access to the motorsports park.

Team Tuned would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for supporting our 2009 championship campaign and we look forward to getting back on track and on top of the podium at the next round!

Rocky Roads for Team Tuned at Classic Bike Race
Team Tuned experienced highs and lows at second round of BMRC Championship.

On May 31, 2009 Team Tuned competed in the second roundd of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's National Championship Series. With the threat of rain the team was very happy that the skies cleared and competition was held under bright blue skies throughout the whole event.

Firstly we would like to thank Capital G for arranging a highly entertaining half time event which matched Bruce Degrilla Jr. (Team Tuned's GP125 rider) against Jazmine Outerbridge (2008 Female Iron Kid Winner) in a head to head pedal bike race during half time. The show entertained both club members and the unlooking crowd as Bruce crossed the line ahead of Jazmine to prove that motorcycle racing is alot more then just riding a bike fast, but about being fit enough to do so as well!

Unfortunately the rest of the day for Bruce did not go so smoothly. Race one of the GP125 class saw Bruce leaded 7 of 8 laps in the first heat of the day. Bruce was followed close behind Keanu Wilson who managed to pass Bruce on the final lap of the race denying Bruce of his first victory of the season. With a disappointing first race (though still a very good result) Bruce set out to do one better in the second heat of the day. Nonetheless lady luck had other things in mind as Bruce's Honda RS125's chain came off the sprockets with 3 turns to go on the final lap whilst attempting to challenging for first place. Bruce ended up with a 2nd place and a DNF leaving him 3rd overall in the GP125 championship heading into the 3rd round of the season.

Cody Sousa-Saints, GP80 rider for Team Tuned, also experience a bit of ups and downs. Although his pass in practise was a second quicker then race winner John Cook, Cody was unable to compete for a podium finish in race one as his gear selector broke half way through the first heat of the day. Team Tuned mechanics worked hard to try and give Cody a bike which was rideable for race two though without a replacement gear selector rod Cody was unable to take part in the second heat of the day. Cody now stands 4th overall in the GP80 standings heading into the 3rd round of the season.

Overall the team is still very positive in their championship hopes. Bruce and Cody continue to show exceptional pace within their respective categories. With 10 more race events to go and a small margin of points between the riders and the championship leaders Team Tuned has their eyes set on the championship prize in 2009.

We would like to take this chance to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support of our youth development program: Capital G, CellularONE, Zurich, Cycle Care, Bermuda Custom Mechanical, JT Custom Workx and VA Online. Without them we could not be competing at such a high level at each race event.

Team Tuned Takes Four Podium Finishes on May 17
Team Tuned achieved four podium finishes during BMRC Season Opener.

May 17, 2009 marked the season opener of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club's 2009 National Championship Series. Bright blue skies, packed stands and race fuel in the air marked a beautiful Bermuda day to showcase the talent of our team's riders for all to see.

First off was Cody Sousa-Saints competing within the GP80 classification. Cody is starting his second year in motorcycle racing. He has his sights set high this year with a target of taking the GP80 championship for 2009. In his first race Cody showed his off-season training had been worthwhile acheiving a 2nd place finish on the last lap overtaking his rival Aaron Persad on the finish line! In the second heat of the day Cody was unlucky to be unable to match the pace of race winner John Cook and had to settle for 3rd leaving him tied for 2nd place overall in the GP80 championship heading into the second round of the season.

Bruce Degrilla Jr. was pumped up after watching his teammate take his first podium of the day. As Bruce lined up on the grid he was caught off guard by a quick race start leaving him to battle from the back of the grid regardless of his front row start. Bruce quickly made up time and began a heated battle for victory in a 4-way fight for the top spot. Unfortunately Bruce was denied first and second place in a very close, action packed, battle and had to settle for 3rd in his first race of the day. With his blood pumping Bruce had his head set for a better finish in the second round. Again Bruce had a poor start due to starting in 2nd Gear! Nonetheless he quickly made his way to the leading group and battled again in a 4-way battle for the lead until Keanu Wilson started to put distance between himself and the following 3 riders. Bruce forced his way cross the two riders infront of him and set out to pursue Keanu. With limited laps to go Bruce was made to settle for 2nd place in the second heat of the day leaving him 2nd overall in the championship tied with the 2008 champion Andrew Decosta.

Overall is was a great start to the 2009 season for Team Tuned. With four podium finishes, no mechanical or technical issues (or crashes!) , and a large crowd the day was a huge success only bettered by race wins in race events to come!

The next race of the BMRC National Championship Series is schedule to start at 2:00p.m. on Sunday May 31, 2009. During the half time show Bruce Degrilla Jr. is scheduled to compete in a pedal bike race against one of Capital G's Iron Kids from the 2008 triathlon! The race event shall be hosted within the Bermuda Motorsport Park in Southside, St. Davids.
